1962 Fender Stratocaster, fiesta red. Made in USA, serial number 87274. This guitar is mostly original, including the original fiesta red finish. A different pickguard assembly was once mounted and the result is an extra post-62 position screw hole underneath the tortoise celluloid pickguard. It's very likely that the pickguard is a bit earlier than 1962, but it is an original ca. 1960-1962 celluloid guard. We also believe two of the pots to be non original to this guitar, as they are dated 1960 and 1961 respectively. As a result of this change, there are a few non original solder joints. The frets appear to be original to this guitar. A portion of the input cavity was routed as the input jack lip touched the wood. As a result of these changes, you can own a custom color pre-CBS Strat for the price of a sunburst! Comes with an original white tolex Fender hardshell case which is believed to be original to the guitar as well (if this guitar was sold at a shop sometime in 1963 and the shop just had new cases in and none of the old ones left, the guitar would be sold with whatever they had at hand).
